Every year in Vinci relives the story of Captain Cecco di Santi, a soldier in the army of Vinci who, for the love of a noblewoman from an enemy country, betrayed her city deserving a horrible death sentence: being thrown from the tower of the Castle of the Conti Guidi. If the captain managed to survive the “flight” he would have saved his life and, perhaps thanks to a last miraculous glass of wine, Cecco managed to fly up to the opposite hill, miraculously saved. That year the farmers had abundant harvests of grapes, olives and wheat.
